  3. He said that? I didnt really catch wat he was saying as his English is so Tamilised. Haha. Oh well, upsets do happen and I'm sure he's upset at the outcome after passing such remark. Hahaha.

  4. He's got the package la. Maybe he and tat Viet chick. If your realise, the other can only sing 1 or 2 genres with powerful voice or melodious tone. Unlike them, Hardy can sing a lot of other genres. And like Raf mentioned, his smile can melt the screaming hormonal girls's hearts. So I guess his win is justified.

  13. TOTAL JAW DROPPING MOMENT Y'ALL!!

What follows is my humble opinion only:

Ok forgive me for I didn't watch the entire show on Saturday but I was predicting the winner based on the population of the asian countries and I was so sure that either India or Indonesia would win... Plus, I'm a bit biased for I only managed to catch the last segment of Saturday's show and caught Mike singing and I thought he was very good & powerful. Hearing how the judges predicted that most likely he'd win jst confirmed my belief!

India's Population, according to CIA's website is over a jaw-dropping 1 BILLION peeps ( thot that pretty handsome indian dude had a fair chance ) & Indonesia's Population is 234 MILLION. Compare this to Singapore's population of a measly 4.5 Million...............

So I honestly didn't think S'pore's Hady wouldn't win cos Hady is jst not that powerful a singer ( in comparison ) & we've got too small a population.........

How did the voters choose then? How did he win?? I seriously think that His Cuteness played a majoooor factor.... I guess it helped that he's malay too and that might have gotten him alot of malaysian/indonesian gal supporters...

Honestly, I didn't like how Channel 5 kept asking us to support S'pore's Idol- so blatant! & also how the judges kept supporting their own country's idol. It became more of a national pride thing than the true quality of the singer..

    Exact Statistics:
India Population: 1,129,866,154 (July 2007 est.)
Indonesia Population: 234,693,997 (July 2007 est.)
Singapore Population: 4,553,009 (July 2007 est.)

  14. This is pretty funny. I got this from starmometer site.

Reasons why Hady won as follows: ( Written by Heru )

    December 17th, 2007 at 2:35 am
I think He just get an “unpredictable” lucky vote. This is my prediction how Hady won this Asian Idol Competition:

    1. Most Indonesian People know that Hady’s parents come from Indonesia (from Buginese Tribe), that’s what Hady mention before the competition start. So, probably. most Indonesian will choose Hady as their second vote.

    2. I think most malaysian People will vote Hady as their second vote since Hady is Singapore delegation which is part of Malaysia (before they parted).

    3. Some Philippine People will vote Hady as thair second vote because they know that Hady vocal coach came from Philippine.

    4. The other will vote Hady as second vote because He is delegation from small country, so they think if they vote Hady, it will not make him won.

    5. Other prediction is most of the voter don’t understand how this voting counting system works. They don’t know that it is not number will count but the average % per country will be used. So you can imagine if Hady get second place is all country.

    6. The last prediction is most voter is a young deaf girl, who is more concern on their eyes than their ear (of course, they are deaf).

So, I predict that Hady won this by second vote.

  15. I strongly agree on this point. Or singaporeans are just simply to crazy to vote hundreds of times individually for him! LoL

    ReplyDelete
  16. So whoever that doubted your OWN idol...SHAME ON YOU!! and to those that did not vote and went, YEAH Hady won! SHAME on you too! LoL

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh... But the thing is RCTI (The indonesian channel that organised this huge event) was also appealing to Indos to vote for Mike... So personally I see no harm in promoting and supporting your own homwgrown talent.

I like this voting system. It forces viewers to vote 2 idols and evens out the playing field by a lot. Anyway I caught Hady being interviewed on Morning primetime a couple of days back. They discussed about country population and fairness. Apparently the votes were counted in percentages (of what I'm not exactly sure but I think against the country's population) instead of the actual number.... Maybe we Singaporeans live up to our title of being the most Kiasu peeps and voted many times more per person than the other countries? ahakz... I dunno. *Shrugs*

  18. Anywayz.... YEAH! I agree with you cuz! That stupid mamak should just have shut it!

Though he dishes out cutting remarks, Ken's makes sense. That Anu was said something like "The winner could be from philippines, malaysia, vietnam... blah blah..." Like DUH! He's stating the obvious isn't it? I liked Abirjheet till that anu spoilt India's image for me.

  20. That's wat I told my mom too and was shocked how come Hady can win. My mom reply: "Those countries may have lots of population but u tink they got watch tv meh? Most of them stays in kampungs and ulu places and some got no phone. How to vote?" Hahaha.

And yes, I also agree that Singaporeans had indeed defend our crown of being kiasu and kiasee by voting for Hady more than once. Hahaha.

  21. Ok Ok Hady Won! Congrats! Firstly I had expected the winner to be a guy. Becoz gals are crazy and loyal supporters (remember fans of certain boybands). Secondly, out of the 3 guys, I tot either the Indonesian or Singaporean Idol will win. That is because Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia are closely related in terms of music. I had expected votes for Hady Mirza from Singapore and Malaysia. Hady had been making some performance all around Malaysia and was in Misha Omar's concert this year. It was aired on TV3 in Malaysia during Hari Raya. It was a pleasant surprise and my Malaysian cousins thought he could sing and a very good looking chap. He is gaining popularity there slowly. Thirdly, Hady is the more good looking one lahh~ And of coz lah he got the talents. So once again congrats Hady and stay down to earth ok?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Actually it with the rest of the stars like ziana and anuar zain and all, not misha omar. And you noe Hady's short relationship with Fazura from Malaysia was all over the news in Malaysia.

    ReplyDelete
  23. i doubt most singaporeans vote. and those that do vote maybe only once at most.
i still feel he won because he got the second vote from the other nation but i do agree with the idea of the deaf young teenage girl voters. it happens so many times. how else do you explain Joakim, Sanjaya or to a lesser extend, Mawi?

    ReplyDelete
  24. wahhh u people analyse so much ah?? my goodness! *LoL*
i kinda agree, compared to the other Idols, Hady may not be somekinda Powerhouse nor does he have the Polished star looks but i guess, he is not bad cos even tho he ain't as smooth as the rest n considerin tis is an IDOL contest, he's got quite a package. even tho he may not be the strongest contender, he was the most honest singer & earnest contestant there. That's probably how he touched the young girls and mak budaks' hearts, i dun tink they r deaf...and his down-to-earth demeanour & speech are also plus points! i remembered how so touched i was when he sang "Lagenda" in SG Idol...

So good on u, Hady. CONGRATS!

    ReplyDelete
  25. it was a jaw dropping moment indeed! unbelievable but yes Hady won....i guess dia sendiri pon tak sangka compared to the other powerhouse vocals of Indo, Mal & Phil

    ReplyDelete
  26. 1 billion in india... and 234 billion in indo.... but... handphone to people ratio in spore superbly high! go figure...

    ReplyDelete
  27. the news tonite juz confirmed that

    ReplyDelete
  28. Wow. Everyone is pretty passionate about this yeah?

Soph, I think we're having fun analyzing.

Dear Sitz, probably every tv station was encouraging their folks to vote for their homegrown talent but that still doesn't make it right. I think in a competition such as this, the best and most deserving singer should win.... So, what I'm saying is I dun like how it sometimes turns into a political-or-must-vote-for-my-own-citizen-race-kind of thing. Ya know whad I mean? The focus should be, I feel, on the individual's true talent & not where they from or what colour they are. We are all of one humanity and we should treat each other as equals. Ya know, that makes it fair game.

    Alas, I'm getting quite philosophical.

The real world doesn't work this way.How else can one explain how Ms. China won Ms. Universe 2007 which was held in China..........?!

    Anywayz.......

Er... as for the ppl who predicted that Singaporean's voted countless times... U r so Right... I jst watched ChannelnewsAsia and one gal said her entire family voted many times, chocking up $700!!

N for the peeps who say that many asian countries are poorer and cannot afford handphones, u are right 2.... and for those who have a hp, they probably wldn't be able afford to vote as many times as Singaporeans. I wonder, in all honesty, how much did one SMS over in their countries cost?

Singa 60 Cents convert to rupiahs......??

Ya, so Hady did win mainly via 2nd votes. Many gals must have been swooning over Hady and maybe many must have thot, choose s'pore la, smallest country, sure won't win. *lol*

    ReplyDelete
  29. its not just that. He knows taht among all he wasn't the best, hence, he just had fun and gave his best while others were stressing themselves out to prove their worth. That was his winning formula, according to Ken Lim in today's CyBerita..

    ReplyDelete
  30. Relak jack..relak jack
Why cant we all just say, Congrats, Alhamdulilah instead of analyzing so much.
We get medals at Asian games also we not happy cos we are represented by non-SG-breed
Asia (Ms China) win Ms universe also we not happy
We won Malaysia cup the last time, it was kelong
We beat Indonesia in soccer, it was political move
Why cant for once we all be happy ah? Cannot is it? Is it such a sin to win? Is it such a sin that one got beauty and charm.
These ppl win w/o killing anyone or resort to unorthodox manner to win it..it just falls on their lap.
Why make things so complicated by analyzing so much.

I voted for him out of patriotism, cos I enjoyed his performance (even he hasnt had the most powerful voice) and because I feel the connection not because I'm deaf teenage girl head over heels in love with him. I love my mr medic. I dont give a damn why others vote him, each has their own reason.

    ReplyDelete
  31. hehe.. don't feel like this ler. sure, hady can perform and we are proud of him. his winnings just came as a shock. i didn't catch the show but watched him on youtube.com instead. yeap, he did his best, no competitive streak, not at all arrogant. what he said was true, he performed sincerely, unlike the rest who came to win. in life, always expect the unexpected.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hmm... It's 2 votes so it really is natural to expect people to vote one for their country rep and another was really up to the viewers' discretion to chose whose deserving. I think the organisors have already did their best in evening out the playing field by the 2 countries vote thingy. Anything else, it's fair game to me.

Honestly, diannal, I actually felt that our Singapore media didn't garner enough buzz for this competition lei much less asking us to support Hady blatantly... I only know about this when I received a mass messaged send out by Hady(whether its him or a fan using his name) on Facebook! Kesiankan.... And I only realised how HUGE this competittion is when I caught adverts on RCTI weeks prior to the competition lei (not to mention asking viewers to support their local idol) See the difference?

But then again to each her own kan?

Plus it's a reality talent show... so despite his cutting and bitchy remarks, what Anu said makes sense lah actually... "We have to be prepared for an upset".

And yeah... I agree with Dee... We should just be thankful for our winnings in both Asian Idol and the Asean Games.

    "Go Team Singapore!" *Grinz*

  33. hehe..no la..cool cool..cuma macam takde fullstop kan the debate. read some place saying tt all those vote for hady deaf, so aku vote so terasa la..hahaha.. come what may, benda dah habis. =)

Sitz...yeah go Team Spore the soccer boys got bronze, Alhamdulilah..I think the SG netball team would be in NZ now for the netball world cup i guess..i cant rmbr the dates but i guess in Dec. Good luck to them =)
