In the name of God..Allah is Universal lah!

I cannot fathom the big brouhaha abt the Herald weekly using the word Allah as God for Catholics in Malaysia. Its disturbing that the Malay Muslims in Malaysia are making such a din over this issue. This is not the first time I roll my eyes & get restless from the news comin from Malaysia. Why why why...do they have to do something to instigate confusion & disharmony using religion, using GOD?!

Allah is a Universal God and we Muslims have no right to tell Christians, Catholics or Jews not to use the word Allah to refer to as God. It is the same God we are referring to also any way, what's the deal??

Perhaps there is a BIG fear & concern of confusion among young Muslims or vulnerable ignorant Muslims but emmm rather than ban the Catholics if they(malays) are scared of confusion & conversion, What about looking into the education system & introduce a more solid Islamic curriculum huh? Malaysia takkan tak boleh? xb

Please stop this nonsense la, it is malicious & ridiculous! Tak bagus tau berfikiran sempit....

Say: "Call upon Allah, or call upon Rahman: by whatever name ye call upon Him (it is well): for to Him belong the Most Beautiful Names....."

Surah Al-Isra' (17:110)

  7. no lah dude, it's reported that it's the government or some dude from some Malay activist group that insisted only Muslims should use the word Allah when the Malaysian High Court overturned the ban on Catholics using it. it's dirty politics in progress, it's not abt true Islam teachings...i hope Malaysians can tell the difference.

  8. using chopsticks is refrain because org majusi yg sembah api buat begitu...prophet mohamad teachs us that...muslim kena avoid that

  9. r u also saying that the food u eat using chopstick will become haram? is that really what will happen with the food and grilled meats we eat at seoul garden when we pick & put them in the soup & griller using chopstick? r u sure?

  10. I thought chopsticks is from China? And Chinese Muslims there also use chopsticks 'cos it's their culture?

Anyway to digress, something pops in my head. I wonder what the past generation of Malays eat mee with? You see like chopsticks, fork & spoon is not our culture too. Takkan zaman dulu2 kita makan mee pakai tangan? Or do we not eat mee at all? Hmmmm...

Am I thinking too much again? Haiz....

  11. Dr. Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin (Mufti Perlis):
Islam does not impede a culture which is not against its teachings. In the past, Malays perceived the use of chopsticks as wrong because it was associated with Chinese culture.

Actually, there is no difference between eating with one’s fingers or using cutlery, or chopsticks. The Prophet called on Muslims to invoke Allah’s name, use their right hand and only eat permissible food.

The Prophet once told a young Umar Abi Salamah when the latter was about to eat: “Dear child, say Allah’s name, eat with your right hand and consume what is close to you.” (Hadith of al-Bukhari and Muslim).

Another example of the latter is that the Prophet ate with his right hand because Allah ordered him to do so; thus it is a Sunnah (in this case, obligatory, based on another Hadith) for Muslims to eat with the right hand.

But the Prophet also ate with his fingers because that was the custom at the time. Thus, it is not a Sunnah for us to eat with the fingers, and there is nothing wrong in using a fork, spoon, or chopsticks.

  14. :)

i have an impression that it is another one of those ol malay-muslim concepts of throwing the rules of haram on things foreign/not a common norm. looked up online..and voila i found tis:
"Islam does not impede a culture which is not against its teachings. In the past, Malays perceived the use of chopsticks as wrong because it was associated with Chinese culture.

Actually, there is no difference between eating with one’s fingers or using cutlery, or chopsticks. The Prophet called on Muslims to invoke Allah’s name, use their right hand and only eat permissible food.

came from Perlis' ex-Mufti tis one...and no surprise that he is not one of Malaysia's government's favourite. heh.

i tried findin other articles about tis from other sites, but no such issues discussed.

  16. majusi=zoroasters; mainly practised in Iran predating prophets Jesus(a.s.) & Muhammad (s.a.w)

  17. was talking about this with my Malaysian superior (she's Catholic) and I told her not to fret so much about it, I mean what do you expect from a land that practices double standards even in their legal system. Islamic state or secular state? Even that they cannot concretely define themselves.

The 'Boleh' mentality? Boleh jalan ah!

  19. Oh wow!! I didn't expect to open up a whole can of worms here with my chopstick remarks.

  20. I just found out abt this when I came back. And I have to agree with you.I think the people are just stupid these days...just causing trouble for no valid good reasons. They must have been bored

  21. dunintended: foooh garang sey!
    subhanah: tak leh angz eh..hehe
halftank: yeah la u...i'm the one endin up havin to go catch ur worms :b
nebride: hmm i can't say they are stupid, because their concern is rather valid...but they have to look beyond Malaysia as Islam is not juz exclusive there, it's a global religion & they have to look into the past, into the Prophet's ways of dealings with people of other faiths before making such moves that make Muslims look like ignorant tyrants, especially now with "firebomb" hurlings at some churches there.

  22. I’m not saying its haram, its refrain, jauh kan dari melakukan..mmmm e.g Allah suka perbuatan yg dilakukan dgn yg kanan dahulu…if you on the left its not haram…but because Allah suka kita buat apa2 at our best using the right side (makan, tidur mereng kanan etc) so the same with this chopstick thing(up to individual, up to you guys to memusykil kan)... to everyone buku tu bukan guru kita, berguru hendak lah dgn orang nya...majlis ilmu...just like sahabat berguru dgn nabi, and therefore and therefore. one's perception is not enuff to define Allah's and Mohamad's teachings. kalau kita bukan golongon org yg kuat beriman dan bertauhid pada Allah, iblis akan selit2kan misunderstanding in ourselves.....betul katakan salah, salah katakan betul

    wasallam

  23. jikalau antara kami, sahabat2 mu, melakukan kesalahan, wajib kamu memperbetulkan. tu lah aku soal, di mana boleh aku cari mengenai majusi & the refrain of using chopsticks in Islam and the connection between this.

  24. this whole using chopstick thingy, reminds me of my aunt's ex husband yg tak kasi his family members dengar lagu/muzik unless it's in Arabic (i.e Arabic = Islam, what the hell?!)... obviously he doesn't know the likes of Amr Diab and Nancy Ajram, trust me, their songs are anything but religious... no wonder he's my aunt's ex =P

dalam zaman yang sepatutnya we can no longer claim ignorance, i can't believe there are still people yang masih confuse antara budaya dan agama... so sad and rather pathetic...

  25. ooo la la la indeed!!! their songs are rather suggestive actually....berbunga bunga love love nya! hahaha

  26. read it, we'll have to see what is the effect of tis issue in years to come. May He always illuminate the way & let us not fall in the trap of confusion.

  27. Amin. Yeah, the seeds
    of confusion were sown
    to make us disillusioned :-)
